The weather in those days was capricious, yet that was precisely what made it interesting. We could only surrender to the power of nature, go with its flow, and find insight within it.
Riding on a friend’s motorcycle, the scenery unfolded around me—the sunlight, the scattered noises, passing cars, low houses, signboards with foreign scripts, the faces and backs of people—all of it felt like a dream. I rarely dream, yet the most vivid dreams are those I experience in waking life. Thinking back on Berlin’s structured order, Yogyakarta’s charm lies on the other side of that same coin; to toss this coin into the light is to turn toward the sun—the eternal one, shining bright and generous.
The first complete zine - from writing, photography, design, layout, to printing - was all done in Indonesia. One day , while sorting through things for my move, a friend asked me where I want to base myself. I couldn't give a definite answer. It feels as if home is far away, yet at the same time, anywhere could be a place of belonging as long as there's a sense of home. Dogs mark their territory by urinating in the wild; at this moment, I feel that my act of creation is also a kind of marking - a graffiti that inscribes the fleeting pulse of life.
Very Special thanks : Kanosena, Abi & my dear friends in Jogja
