“Invisible Experience”
— “Can art exist not to explain experience, but to create a field in which experience can reveal itself?”
A state of not-yet-understanding may be the starting point of exploration.
For me, what matters most may not be turning every unknown into something known.
Rather, it is creating a “form” through which the unknown can be approached, felt, and thought about, while retaining its complexity.
By allowing thought and observation to enter one’s deeper experience, then using free methods of experimentation—separation, deconstruction, and recomposition—feelings or modes of existence that are initially difficult to understand or have not yet taken shape can be transformed into a form. Through materials, time, movement, or space in the world, these feelings are given a visible form for experience. This form does not necessarily need to accurately represent the original feeling. It can allow the feeling to be observed anew, even generating new meanings.
— How do we perceive the world?
For instance, what if language is not exclusive to humans? Animals, plants, objects, places, and nature may all be murmuring, at the same time, in languages that humans appear unable to understand.
Questions :
How do people transform inner experience into something that can be perceived by others?
How can inner experience be transformed, through the body, language, time, and space, into an event that others can perceive?
How can I create a field in which an invisible experience can occur, be sensed, and be regenerated within another body?
Language is re-enacted through another person’s body.
